I can’t express enough about John McCain’s courage and unrelenting determination he has for our country. This ad says it all. I normally would not put a candidate’s ad on my blog, but McCain’s says it best. He has become an unpopular Republican at times because of the way he votes on certain issues, but he always thinks about Americans first. I admire his courage to vote for what is in our best interest, even if that means he is shunned by his own party.

We need a president with a backbone: one who isn’t going to sugar-coat everything and respects the American people enough to fight for what will ultimately help our country and not hinder it. I haven’t always agreed with John McCain’s voting record, after I see his reasoning behind his votes, I realize he has our country’s best interest. He is the definition of courage and honesty.

I can’t believe what I’m hearing from Rudy Giuliani. He has said on numerous occasions that our American borders should be more open and allow more immigrants in. He talks about how New York is comprised of many immigrants, which is definitely true. He then goes on to claim that having immigrants cross our border is a good thing for America. Let’s just put that into perspective. Arizona has allowed more illegal Mexican immigrants than any other border in the south and they are feeling the pinch. Arizona also has the worse crime rate in the entire country. Since I live in Arizona, I can attest first-hand that illegal immigration has many negative impacts to our local economy and can be extended to the national economy. I don’t think I can go one day without hearing about a Hispanic male (mostly) committing murder, rape, burglary, etc. on the news. If someone were to do a study on the ethnicity of crimes being committed in Arizona, I bet a majority of crimes are committed by Hispanics.

I have mentioned crime, but that is just one concern that Arizonans have to contend with because of illegal immigration. Education is another hot topic in this desert state because Arizona is ranked last for education nationwide. In fact, one report ranked Arizona students as being the dumbest in the nation. I refuse to send my child to public schools for this reason. And why is education so bad? Many students do not speak English and must learn it in grade school. Here’s the problem: When a teacher has several students who can not speak English very well, they cannot leave these children behind just because they cannot understand what is being taught as well as an English student. So, the teacher can only teach as fast as the slowest learner in the class. This ends up leaving many students behind because they are not being taught at the level they should be.

If anyone knows about the true impact of immigration, it’s Arizona and the people who live here, like Senator John McCain. Giuliani seems like a fluff politician who is just trying to get supporters from Republicans and Democrats alike even if that means putting the lives of American people at risk.

Clinton is trying to appeal to all people in the country, but that doesn’t mean she needs to talk like them. I’m sure she was trying to be funny, but she does not have the personality type to attempt a comedy routine. Critics have called her stiff and unlikable, which could be debated, but she should be herself and not attempt to be anyone else. I wonder if Bill had anything to do with this speech? If people are going to vote for Hillary, they will vote for her based on her political beliefs. She needs to focus on these beliefs and address concerns rather than pretend to fit in with people of her home state. It seems like she’s trying to hard to gain the black vote because her major competitor is the half-black Obama. What’s next…a mexican drawl in southern California?

Ann Coulter’s comment on John Edwards could be construed as calling him gay, but after watching his speech at Dartmouth, you can tell he is far from gay. In fact, he goes on to say that he feels conflicted with gay rights and his own Christian upbringing. He says he believes in equal rights but does not personally believe in homosexuality. Ann Coulter’s comment was inappropriate, especially since she was giving a speech at the CPAC. You can clearly see she was poking fun at Edwards.

McCain on Letterman

John McCain announced that he would be a presidential candidate in 2008. He made the announcement on the David Letterman show to fulfill a promise he made to Letterman. Some people thought this move was unusual or inappropriate, but I admire anyone who keeps their promise, even if that means making yourself look a little foolish. McCain possesses a stronger character than most people and should be given credit for his integrity.

Some presidential candidates fail to recognize the importance of keeping your word. Barack Obama promised Oprah late last year that if he were running for president he would announce it on her show, but he failed to do so. He did not keep his promise like many politicians before him. I don’t think that being in politics give anyone a right to make false promises. A person who possesses good character and quality will want to keep his promise no matter what profession he goes into. Do we really want another lying politician in office?
